Election Law

Overview

Plunkett Cooney's Election Law Practice Group represents both municipalities and local government officials, such as city clerks and council members, in a variety of situations.

Our attorneys have consulted with officials where there are questions about the appropriate drafting of petitions or referenda, where modifications of ballot language by election officials are challenged by citizens and where there are questions about how to properly conduct an election. The firm’s election law specialists have also consulted with governmental entities and officials on recall issues, recounts and election challenges.

Plunkett Cooney's attorneys also advise clients as to the election law governing procedural aspects of elections, such as the requirements for placing an issue before the voters for an election; the wording of ballots and ballot proposals; and ensuring that proper notice is given for an election.

Plunkett Cooney’s election law specialists also have expertise in the various challenges that can be mounted before, during and after an election. The firm has the expertise to guide its clients through the quickly shifting landscape of election law.
